Alonso leaves Schumacher trailing

Fernando Alonso took pole position for the Chinese Grand Prix, with title rival Michael Schumacher down in sixth. The Renault driver was 0.632secs clear of his closest rival, team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella, in one minute 44.360 seconds in Shanghai. Schumacher, struggling in the wet conditions in his Ferrari, was more than 1.2secs off the pace.

Thief arrested in Málaga said to have The Scream

22 Aug 2006, 08:23 Talks are reportedly underway for the return of several stolen paintings stolen including The Madonna and The Scream by Edvard Munch. Police believe that a thief, who was arrested in Málaga, was involved in the case. David Aleksander Toska, was sentenced in Norway last March to 19 years in prison for the robbery of cash from a Norwegian security company, but is now considered to have also taken part in the theft of the paintings. There are reports that he says he will return the paintings for a reduction in his sentence.
